4 Wounded Following Shooting at VFW Post

COLUMBIA, MO (September 5, 2015) – Saturday, at 12:52 A.M., officers were dispatched to 1509 Ashley Street, VFW Post 280, in reference to shots heard. Upon officers’ arrival one male and three female subjects had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.

Preliminary investigation revealed a disturbance began inside the building, which was being rented out for an event. Some subjects at the event left the building and went to the parking lot. Several shots were fired from the parking lot towards the building.

The gunfire struck the four above mentioned victims and the VFW building. Officers located several shell casings and some bullets. One female victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and required emergency surgery.

The male victim and other two female victims went to the hospital by personal vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries. The building sustained property damage both inside and outside, however, the amount is unknown at this time.
