NWA TO REUNITE WITH EMINEM REPLACING EAZY-E

NEWSWATCH33 – With the biopic of their career and history as a band, Straight Outta Compton being a hit in the box office this weekend, NWA are aiming to reunite to promote the movie. The only issue of course, is who they could replace the deceased Eazy-E with. Many reports are indicating that the man to fill that void will be none other than Eminem.

According to an interview in The Hollywood Reporter with Dr Dre and Ice Cube, the band is strongly considering touring with Eminem, as head of Universal, Donna Langley, looks to promote the upcoming film with a reunion tour.

“We don’t have anything settled yet with everyone’s schedules,” Donna said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “But we think it can create a lot of buzz.

Of the film, Langley insists that it was always going to be a story that should be told on the big screen, it just needed a bit of work as to how that might come about. “I’ve always been very intrigued by the (N.W.A) story,” says the Universal chief. “It was really just about finding a rational business model with which to green light it.

Those that have been around long enough will remember the way in which NWA went about changing hip hop, dragging society as a whole along with it, with their grossly controversial, angry, unapologetic tales of life on the streets of South Central Los Angeles, during the late 80s and early 90s. Millions of kids were hooked as their parents, especially middle class white America, protested the disapproval, which only served to make NWA even more popular.

So the film is sure to be huge, and not just amongst hip hop fans. But a tour in order to promote the film is as good an excuse as any for people to get out and see the band together again on stage. Eazy-E, however, passed away from complication relating to AIDS back in 1995.
Eazy-E, whose real name is Eric Lynn Wright, fathered seven different children to six different women, and contracted AIDS through sexual contact. The surviving members of the band have previously released material as NWA with Snoop Dogg as part of the band.

The original line-up of NWA disbanded in 1991 after releasing two studio albums, a compilation album, and two Eps. The title of the biopic film takes its name from the bands iconic first full length release, Straight Outta Compton (1988). The album had a monumental impact on not only rap and hip hop, but the wider community as well.

It will be very interesting to hear how old school fans react to both the movie and the tour which looks likely to go ahead with Eminem involved.
