An explosion occurred at a chemical plant in China’s eastern province of Shandong on Saturday evening, eastern china time. The People’s Daily said a warehouse at the plant exploded and firefighters are at the scene. The site is 1 kilometer away from a residential area.
Villagers from the Lu town near by the chemical plant said they heard two loud blasts and saw the fire from their yard. According to another villager, the chemical plant hasn’t been in operation long and they were still hiring workers.
Last week more than a hundred people were killed, dozens still missing and 700+ injured in explosions at a warehouse storing hazardous chemicals in Tianjin.
Zibo fire brigade said that the site is equipped with a chemical plant fire, currently there are no casualties and the fire has not been extinguished yet.
These cases have sparked a nationwide directive to cracking down on the storage of hazardous chemicals.
