SOUTH CAROLINA — Charleston Police responded to Stilettos at 2015 Pittsburgh Avenue about 1:00 a.m. Friday, August 21st, in reference to an assault that had just occurred.

The alleged incident occurred between an employee of the night club and a patron. The suspect is accused of assaulting the employee and exposing himself to her.

The officers determined there was enough probable cause to arrest the patron and charge him with assault and battery 3rd degree and indecent exposure.

During the investigation it was determined that the suspect, Jason Mikell, 36, is an attorney under contract with the City of Charleston as its Public Defender. Mikell is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.

At this time, Mikell is not appearing in Municipal Court as Public Defender in any City cases. His contract is currently under review and a decision regarding his status with the City of Charleston will be made once the review is completed.
