NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Detectives have determined that the March 30th shooting death of 19-year-old Craig Lambert, originally reported to have been an accident, is a homicide.

Witnesses initially said that Lambert was petting a cat in Hadley Park when a pistol he was carrying fell.

They said that when Lambert grabbed for the gun, he hit the trigger, causing the pistol to discharge.

Autopsy results and other evidence cast doubt on that scenario, prompting more investigation.  Detectives have now disproved the initial claim of an accidental shooting.

Efforts are underway to locate the suspect, who is presently believed to be outside of the Middle Tennessee area.

Lambert was a student a Tennessee State University.

Lambert was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and was listed in critical condition, he later died from the injury.
