JACKSONVILLE, Florida — On Thursday, August 20, 2015 the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3100 block of Emerson Street in reference to a possible sexual battery of a six year old boy in the bathroom of a McDonald’s.

FCN reported: The family’s two boys, ages 6 and 7, had gone into the bathroom, but when the 7-year-old returned and the 6-year-old didn’t, their father went in to check on him, police said. As the father walked into the restroom, he noticed a black man leaving the stall and then found his 6-year-old son in the same stall zipping his pants up, Chief Hackney said.

The father then chased after the Sykes, who had fled the restaurant heading down Emerson Street toward Interstate 95 and Spring Park, according to police. “It’s hard to tell exactly what happened in that stall, but based on” forensics evidence and medical exams, it’s clear that some kind of sex crime happened, Chief Hackney said.

The special assault unit assumed responsibility of the investigation and immediately began to piece together what took place and isolate a possible suspect with the help of witnesses.

The suspect was identified as Keith Andre Sykes, 33 years old. While on routine patrol, a patrol Sergeant spotted Sykes and took him into custody without incident. Sykes was subsequently arrested and charged with Capital Sexual Battery.
