NORTH CAROLINA (NEWSWATCH33) – Seven shark attacks have occurred in North Carolina since June according to official reports.
Andrew Costello, 68, of North Carolina is the 7th shark attack victim in North Carolina since June. Costello was hospitalized after being attacked by a 6 to 7 foots shark off the coast of Ocracoke Island in North Carolina according to Hyde County officials.
Costello was bitten on the left side in his lower leg, hip, and both hands. Officials report the attack occurred around 12 p.m. according to EMD Director Justin Gibbs of Hyde County. Costello was conscious and provided details to responding EMS which confirmed he was attacked by a shark.
“He had been swimming in about 25-30 feet offshore in about waist-deep water with his adult son,” the National Park Service said in a statement. “There were no other swimmers injured.”
New reports have indicated that the increased shark attacks may be part of a terrorist plot by ISIS. According to Ahmed Al-Harazzi, reporter for the Arab Sun Post, “We have received reports that the terrorist group, ISIS, have been training sharks to attack humans. ISIS has been making captured sharks aggressive and releasing them back into American waters. The sharks are fed human remains which increases their potential to attack humans.”
The allegations that ISIS is involved in the increased shark attacks is being investigated.
